GSB Superstructure Removal Project 2025

Introduction

The General Sullivan Bridge superstructure removal project is focused on dismantling the aging bridge that spans the Little Bay between Newington and Dover, New Hampshire. Originally opened in 1934, the bridge has been deemed structurally obsolete and unsafe for continued use. The project aims to safely remove the superstructure while ensuring minimal environmental impact on the surrounding area. Pedestrian and Bicycle traffic has shifted to the Spaulding Turnpike Northbound Little Bay Bridge. The removal process includes careful planning to protect local ecosystems, particularly the river habitat. The project is part of a larger initiative to improve infrastructure connectivity and safety in the region.
